In the wireless mobile phone communication system, the main function of the combiner is to combine the input signals of multiple frequency bands together and output them to the same indoor distribution system.
A pentaplexer is a 6-port filtering device that splits one input in to five different outputs, each with a different frequency. It can also be used the other way round and where it routes signals at four different frequencies to a single port.
